Rejuvenating Tranquility…Tioman Island.. (Day One)

with 2 comments

And there I sat, looking out on to beach, with a book on my hands. I might as well gave up bringing any book on my vacation, coz obviously I looove…the beach more than reading!

Day one – 30th January 2009, Mersing

We arrived at Mersing bus station almost 6 a.m. Since it’s still early, we decided to have breakfast at nearest restaurant before we continue to Mersing jetty which only take ten minutes walks. Ferry schedule on 7.30 a.m but it was delayed and only reach Tekek around 10 a.m. Phew! It’s a wonderful experience to view morning sunrise in the middle of the ocean.

But we have a bad experience though. Once we reached Tekek jetty there’s already an agent waiting to offer snorkeling package or a transportation. Our chalet, Swiss Cottage Chalet only a ten minutes walking distance but since this is a 1st time we’re there, we hop on to the van offered by the agent for RM5 for 1 pax. And we reach there less than 2 minutes! (we did bump with him on  a second day and something even worse happened.. i’ll elaborate later)

Luckily, our arrival was greeted by a beautiful pristine beach infront of us that let us forget about the whole thing…

We’re so glad to stay there as the room is cozy and clean with that mosquito net hanging (romantic leh..mcm honeymoon suite la pulak..hehehe), woven headboard bed, crisp white linen curtain and all… surprisingly even the bathroom are clean! Infact they are fitted with modern sanitary wares so you don’t have to feel uncomfortable staying there.

I even love the beach here coz the ambiance here is something like the one at Mutiara Burau Bay, Langkawi, (even though it’s not actually a bay) which offer privacy, low density(only 10 unit chalets here I guess) and the seaview chalet are close proximity to the beach, less than 100 mtrs away, so we can view the beautiful beach right from our bed…!

What a way to unwind, relax…Even the smell of the ocean made me felt calm…Somehow it feel so cozy, safe & no doubt it’s so breezy in here, we even took a nap with an open door! Zzzzzz…..Same to our next door neighbour…As for the room charges is Rm110 per nite, it’s definitely worth it!

Around 12 p.m, we actually went out to look for lunch, but as we walked further, we saw the Marine Park are near so we juz continue walking until we finally arrived there about an hour later. We are so excited…And so we skip the lunch and….kabosshhh….jump into the sea!

Funny thing is, we are among the earliest to arrived here, probably coz of the monsoon season now, only a few visited the island at this moment. Oh, and if happened to there by foot like us, not to worry coz you can always rental a life jacket & snorkelling gear for RM10.

Cheers to the fish

Cheers to the fish

There are so many kind of fish, whether the big ones or small, and colorful. And they are all very entertaining(hungry?), make sure you are prepared with a loft of bread so you can feed them. But I must admit, Marine Park at Redang Island are much more beautiful with lots of colorful coral and fish. Sometime if u are lucky u can even get to see baby sharks, turtles or starfish.

Tired of swimming, around 5 p.m we grab a bite of burger and return to our chalet,we even forgo the plan to walk to the side of the island which is Ayer Batang, which located five minute away from marine park by following the jungle trekking provided.

As we walked back, most of locals are out on the beach, be it swimming, fishing, cycling, playing kite or even search for a clam since the tide are low in the evening . (Honestly, I don’t even know they were looking for clam..or is it called remis locally? Coz my kampong where got sea? ~blush~ at least now I know la…hehehe..)
